Koru
As part of a fundraiser for Exposure Calgary, the Camera Store has been set up in Art Central printing pictures in a large size for free. On Saturday James and I frantically searched through our photos to find one worthy of printing at a width of 24 inches. I ended up finding this picture, which was taken in Christchurch, New Zealand in 2005. During my trip to New Zealand I was enthralled with the story behind the Koru and have since been attached to images of it. I like the idea of new beginnings, and this fern reminds me of the simplicity of the life-cycle. I am excited to have this memory and meaning captured in a picture, which is now printed in large form for everyone to enjoy.
James and I used a lomo tutorial to bring out the colours. I really like how it turned out.

It really looks like a piece of concept artwork. Possibly for a video game. Impressive!
