Spiral Guides
Another step closer to feeling prepared for my trip. I purchased one of these Spiral Guides from AMA for New Zealand went I went a couple years ago, and I thought it was fantastic. Just enough information about the key sites without being overwhelming, a list of recommended restaurants, activities, and hotels, and lots of bright colour and pictures. In the past I’ve found that the traditional Lonely Planet or other travel books are too much for me, resulting in carrying around a thick, intimidating book. I’m pretty excited that I now have Spiral Guides for London and Paris, and am a bit sad that they don’t make one for Stockholm. My house already has Prague, and I’m hoping that my parents bought Berlin. Maybe one day I’ll have all the cities?
I spent some time in AMA this morning talking to an agent about ways to get around Europe. I found it incredibly frustrating and not at all helpful. I had gone with the hope of finding more information about Eurolines, as I had already spent quite a bit of time looking at Rail Europe and wanted to know my other options. Instead, she wasted 30min of my time explaining things I already knew, and then told me that she had no information for anything else and I would have to wait until I got to Europe to know more. Thanks. Needless to say, I won’t be booking through her.
I’ve also been rearranging my schedule again. I’ll likely post an updated version in the week or so.
