Plzeň

I have enjoyed my one day in Plzeň.  It is peaceful yet alive, and has a very natural feeling.  It was nice to see the locals enjoying a park close to the touristy center, and nice to see small town Czech stores lining the main square.  Very different feel from the fake and manufactured Karlovy Vary.

I took a tour of the Pilsner Urquell factory, Plzeňský Prazdroj, and was surprised by the mix of the old processes and new.  I took the tour in English, but quizzed the guide on some key terms I was curious about.  In the end he complimented me on my Czech, saying “Mluvite krásný česky”.  I had another lady say that to me today too.  Definitely helps the confidence a little, and helps counter-balance the guy at the bus station who didn’t understand me at all.

I have taken a lot of photos lately, but am not feeling especially inspired to put them on the internet. My apologies.

down, up
