hoop

To be honest, I’ve wanted a hula hoop for quite some time now. I’ve admired them at previous Folk Fests, admired friends using them at SDC’s Cabarets, and have giggled while trying to wiggle my own body in the ideal hula hooping fashion. I decided that this year was the year that I would purchase my own. After mentioning my intention multiple times throughout Folk Fest weekend, I finally made the purchase during the early evening on the Saturday. The pickings were slim, but I think this one is quite beautiful and I’m delighted to call it my own.

A couple of informal lessons and a little bit of practice later, and I can now hoop in both directions for a reasonable amount of time. Minutes, perhaps. Long enough that I can claim that I can hula hoop, but not long enough to do any fancy tricks.

I’m looking forward to taking my hoop with me this weekend to the Mountain View Music Festival in Carstairs. Maybe I’ll get a little extra practice, and learn something new. If anything, I know it’ll put a smile on my face and others.
