Today I traded up my bike to an even nicer hybrid with clipless pedals and no creaking sound (yay!) and took it on an adventure along the coast line. I started in Victoria and followed the edge of the island all the way around to Mt. Douglas. The top of Mt. Douglas was wonderful, as the view was quite amazing and made the painful ride uphill worth it. I think I biked a total of about 40km. One of the sites along the route was “Mile 0″ of the TransCanada. It was overrun with three bus loads of children not five seconds after I took this photo. Phew!

Today is a beautiful day on Vancouver Island and I decided to take advantage with a bike ride. I rented a bike from Cycle BC and rode on their recommended Bicycle Castle Tour. I got lost a couple of times so the way out to Hexley Castle felt long and arduous. But the way back felt great and quick and reminded me why I love biking. It’s amazing how much distance you can cover, and how easily you can interact with your surroundings while on a bike.

For my birthday my parents took me on an RVing adventure to Lake Louise. It was great to spend time with them over the weekend, and to get a peek into their new favourite hobby. Surprisingly, the weather on Saturday was actually quite nice. A little brisk, but with blue sky. We took advantage of the day and went on the hike into Larch Valley which was absolutely beautiful. Definitely a place to visit again, even if there were a lot of other people around.

I was having such a great time at the Mountain View Music Festival, that I completely forgot to take photos. That is, until the last hour immediately prior to tearing down our tent. So I have to admit, last year’s MVMF Photo is much better. But you’ll notice that the same concrete watershed is in both.

Once again we used a massive (if not entirely sturdy) tent, and slept in baseball diamond #4. Only a fence and skip away from the actual festival. It was a wonderful weekend, and I’ve decided that this festival is one of my favourite parts of summer. Despite all forecasts and a brief but unpleasant wind, the weather miraculously turned out. Somehow a really scary looking cloud split and went around the festival. And after some frantic pegging our tent did not blow away. Thank goodness!
