I’m sorry dear blog, I have been neglecting you!

I’ve had a really busy week, with the first season of “Heros” taking up most of my free time during the beginning of the week, and frantic list writing of missing supplies filling time the past couple of days.

Grad was great. I’m really glad I went, and it was nice to have a day dedicated to celebration and family. BBQ turned out fantastic as well! The rain let up just long enough to let us enjoy a bit of boccie and some fire roasted hot dogs. Packing has been scary. Tomorrow will be the last minute cramming of toiletries into the bag, something I’m not looking forward to.

I fly out at 17:35 tomorrow. The offer for postcards is still on the table, just send me your mailing address. My brain is about to explode from an overwhelming amount of travel related thinking. ie: I’m going to miss my mac. It’s meeting up with me in Prague (thanks grandparents!), but that’s still 1.5 months without it. Also, I have posted a note on Facebook with all my contact info.

I’m looking forward to getting this adventure started!

Tonight was the official change-over party for the UofC Swing Exec. Our duties have been handed over to a new group of very capable swing enthusiasts, and it’s a bit of a relief. I’m ready for the next stage in my life, and this was a step in finishing the previous stage. All that’s left is waiting for my final grades, and walking across the stage at convocation.

Our party was a potluck with the delicious elk kabobs, salad, and dessert leaving the most memorable impressions. Siobhan made some sort of vanilla pudding cake thing for dessert and it was absolutely delicious. It started as a circle, but she used some amazing geometric skills to cut the pieces so that it turned into a star midway through. The technique left me quite awed, and I’ll likely try to replicate it.

In standard Calgary style, we are in the second half of April and for the past two days it has been snowing non-stop. This photo was taken early yesterday morning, when the snow had just begun. It is now a full 24 hours later and there is significantly more snow on the ground.

Yesterday was also Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD), also known as the last day of classes at the UofC. If the weather is nice they have beer gardens outside, and it seems that every second year the weather doesn’t participate and the event gets moved inside to the concrete MacHall. Not quite the same atmosphere, and I didn’t go. I still had a beer and fun filled day, but I would’ve liked to be outside enjoying the sun as it was my last BSD as a student.

My marketing class today was on advertising. I don’t watch very much TV due to an already tight schedule between school, work, swing, and life, and therefore tend to find advertisements really amusing. I mean, when you only see them once they’re pretty hilarious – either because they’re so cheesy or actually just well done. My prof played this video as an example of a ‘mood or image’ style of advertisement.

When I was younger I used to go to the Family Leisure Center for summer camps. I would buy a small bouncy ball for a quarter everyday. Needless to say, I created quite the collection. I would love to see this in real life. The colour, the fun nature of bouncy balls, the beautiful song by Jose Gonzalez. Amazing.

For a better quality version you can battle through Sony’s annoying flash website, but its only better in the small version.
