A HUGE thank you goes to Dana, who supplied the expertise, sewing machine, and patience. I have to admit, she did most of the hard work while I cheered her on and struggled to make a pillow cover.

Leaving for a hotter climate

Today I am leaving for Vegas for a week. I’m going to absorb vitamin D, shoot as many photos as possible, and generally enjoy the relaxation that comes with being in a different city. It seems the trip was well timed, as today Calgary is expecting snow. Goodbye snow, hello +30°C and sunshine!

For Sale

Yesterday I worked hard, and burned hard, at my grandma’s garage sale. I think I ended up collecting more items than I managed to sell: a bird house, scale, blanket, pillows, shovel, wine glasses, phew! I’m currently mad at the scale, because it tells me I’m 5 lbs heavier than I thought I was (which really means I’m mad at myself, for being 5 lbs heavier). Afterwards I went home, spent the evening digging up the dandelions from our yard, and crashed at 8:30pm. Not even joking, I slept for 12.5 hours straight!

This beautiful marble chess set was for sale. It’s extremely nice, but was extremely overpriced as far as garage sale ‘bargins’ go. It didn’t sell, so Megan and Dave took a chess break…

Sarah and I spent the evening putzing around the yard. Our landlord has kindly mowed our lawn for us, we’ve admired the flowers and leaves, and Sarah is preparing to plant her garden tomorrow. We also discovered most awesome lounge chairs, and I have already enjoyed it while reading, listening to the river, and absorbing the feel of spring.

Spiral

I have had an interest in spirals since my trip to New Zealand where I was introduced to the Koru, a symbol I still feel connected with. This “unfurling fern frond, symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace,” is a a part of my bedroom decor, as I have a large print of a photo I took of one. While admiring the greenery in my yard (can you tell I’m excited it’s spring? excited for the green?) I noticed that the leaves on the rose bush unfurl in a similar way, spiraling out from the centre. Lovely.
