Leaving for a hotter climate

Today I am leaving for Vegas for a week. I’m going to absorb vitamin D, shoot as many photos as possible, and generally enjoy the relaxation that comes with being in a different city. It seems the trip was well timed, as today Calgary is expecting snow. Goodbye snow, hello +30°C and sunshine!

Backyard Snow

*sing* It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….

Calgary woke up to inches worth of snow today, and when I cleared off my car in the early evening I had about 8 inches gathered up. Still managed to make it up to the Olympic Oval for a family fun afternoon of skating. The snow has definitely put me in the Christmas mood, and motivated me to wrap a couple of presents. Almost done all of this season’s shopping!

Snowy Spring

In standard Calgary style, we are in the second half of April and for the past two days it has been snowing non-stop. This photo was taken early yesterday morning, when the snow had just begun. It is now a full 24 hours later and there is significantly more snow on the ground.

Yesterday was also Bermuda Shorts Day (BSD), also known as the last day of classes at the UofC. If the weather is nice they have beer gardens outside, and it seems that every second year the weather doesn’t participate and the event gets moved inside to the concrete MacHall. Not quite the same atmosphere, and I didn’t go. I still had a beer and fun filled day, but I would’ve liked to be outside enjoying the sun as it was my last BSD as a student.
