In an extremely quick transition, I went from being in lovely Quebec City on vacation to lovely Kananaskis on a staff retreat. This year was great – much warmer than last year, and once again filled with inspiring brain storming and some alcohol assisted team building. But really, it’s not difficult to have a great time when you’re surrounded by natural beauty.

Slowly but surely I am making my office a more beautiful place. Yesterday I purchased another mini piece of art (8″ x 8″) to add to my slowly growing collection. It’s from an artist that I really like, Jeremiah Ketner, and I’ve been following his life (@smallandround) and his art for a little while now.

Rafter Six

I have returned, with a burned face, from Rafter Six Ranch. Our three day work retreat consisted of mostly cold weather (which none of us were fully prepared for), team bonding of the alcoholic variety, and beautiful surroundings. Oh, and some work as well. These orange picnic tables were our conference room, and the sky was the limit. < /cliché >

Chip Addict

In case anyone was unsure, I would like to officially confess my addiction to chips and dips of all varieties. I have found this addiction to be even more severe than that of candy, chocolate, or any other foods. Only 6 months in at my new job, and already my coworkers are well aware of this addiction. Today Tiffany made a point of running into my office to happily exclaim that the Executive Farewell included CHIPS! and DIPS! I couldn’t hide my excitement, and was the first person to arrive at the party. Then, feeling a little awkward, I promptly left again to collect coworkers so that I could comfortably dig in.

Desktop

After a week of looking at the ugly blue default desktop on my computer, I finally changed it to one of my favourite photos today. Everytime I’ve minized all the open windows, this photo has made me smile :) The rest of my office is still lacking character, but it’ll come with time.

Lens Update: Nikon has decided that the injuries have been caused by jarring and jostling, and therefore the repairs are not covered under warranty. As the repairs would have cost $104, and a brand new lens of the same kind only costs $120, I have decided it’s not worth it. It’s $100 that I will invest into a better quality lens instead.
